Job description:


The Service Delivery Director within CDIO Borders & Trade is a senior leadership Delivery Officer role within the Digital, Data and Technology (DDaT) Profession. The role holder will have accountability for leading the end-to-end product delivery of key Borders and Trade services, ensuring these services meet user needs, align to business strategy, and are technically stable.
They will be accountable for developing the IT programme plans centred around an agreed delivery portfolio.

They will ensure effective programme delivery on time and to budget as well as holistic delivery plans, structures, and transitions.

Customer experience and customer focus are at the heart of a product based organisation. Alongside the delivery focus, technical product ownership and customer centricity will be critical parts of the role.

DDaT Delivery Officers are accountable for leading and delivering all aspects of DDaT programmes and portfolios.

Main Accountabilities

  • Play a full role within the CDIO Borders & Trade Senior Leadership Team, leading on agreed elements of CDIO Borders & Trade business operations and transformation.
  • Be an active and visible leader, leading on agreed transformational change, locations targets, diversity & inclusion, and respect at work agenda and ensuring the team ethos and culture transcends in all we do.
  • Deliver outcomes as outlined in the organisation's DDaT strategy, prioritising and resourcing work activities as required.
  • Lead, direct, motivate and manage the Border Services teams undertaking the delivery.
  • Identify external commercial partners where needed that align to the Borders and Trade overall commercial strategy.
  • Shape and transform the way business is done, developing delivery capability and Agile skills to provide better online services to achieving more effective models of delivery at optimal cost.
  • Lead and manage supplier relationships to ensure the effective delivery of the necessary IT capabilities to time, cost and quality, challenging supplier solutions, costs, and timescales to ensure value for money.
  • Define and communicate key risks and complexity to deliver timescales and lead discussions with senior stakeholders to resolve.
  • Ensure programme delivery into live is delivered in planned timescale, in keeping with targets and commitments.
  • Be an enduring Technical Product Owner for the Products within your portfolio.
  • Review and advise on buy versus build strategies, balancing costs, efficiencies, and service quality.
  • Develop and lead the delivery of endtoend programmes that meet business and user needs.
  • Prioritise and resource work activities as required by the roadmap(s) and plan.
