If so, then this role could be the perfect opportunity for you and to start your career as Lecturer in Skills for Living and Work for The Sheffield College.


The role of Multi-Skills Lecturer in Construction is ideal if you:

  • Have industry experience in the construction trade or have previously worked as a multi-trades tutor
  • Want to share your skills working with our entry level learners to help them enhance their progression opportunities and employability skills.
  • Have a background in brickwork, construction and or carpentry.
  • Want to make a difference to young people who need the skills and qualifications to progress into employment or further study.

Day-to-day you will be responsible for:

  • The delivery of the entry level construction curriculum including working with young people at risk of becoming NEET and those with additional needs and disabilities.
  • Supporting learners to make small steps through practical and theory based teaching and learning.
  • Tracking and monitoring progress and achievement
  • Working with the wider to support progression

After your first year with us, success would look like:

  • Built relationships with a cohort of young people
  • Built relationships with the team, including Student Mentors, SEND and the wider curriculum team
  • Supported your learners into making their next step into technical study
  • Undertaken a range of training and development opportunities

Though ideally, you will:


  • Be empathetic
  • Have some experience of delivery in the FE sector, or similar environment
  • Have the flexibility and creativity to offer a curriculum that is engages and supports achievement
  • Have experience of working with young people with SEND and/or complex and challenging behaviours.
  • Be supportive, understanding and patient
