Purpose & Scope of Role
This is a perfect opportunity for an ambitious professional who wants to join a growing business. They need to be happy leading and motivating small to medium teams with no previous sector experience needed.


The business designs and manufactures cabin interior furnishings and safety devices for some of the world's largest operators and seat manufacturers.

With its own in-house manufacturing capability and a network of manufacturing subcontractors which are allseeing increasing demand as the aviation market recovers from the pandemic period.

Incredibly well placed to capture market share during this recover and expand its operations further.


The Production Group Leader leads the Gatwick based Sub Assembly and Sewing teams and will liaise weekly with subcontractors to achieve the desired production plans.

Reporting to the Operations Director they will work closely with their direct reports;

  • Sub Assembly Team Leader
  • Sewing Team Leader
  • Kitting teams


The purpose of the role is to manage the successful execution of the production plan utilizing a structured team approach in adherence with the company's Health & Safety and compliance requirements.

Main tasks

  • Manage adherence to weekly and monthly plans updating the Production Planning & Customer Service Team
  • Provide daily progress reports via the interactive planning page and daily meeting structure
  • Report problems or concerns regarding product quality, processes, equipment or materials promptly and capture on the 08.30 start of shift board.
  • Ensure compliance with the 'Daily Workflow Checklist' including 5S tasks, Daily Machine Checks
  • Maintain the Production Skills Matrix and facilitate employee training, appraisal and development
  • Update the Production Team with company communications, as necessary.
  • Identify and support continuous improvement projects that will be captured by the 'Problem Log' system.
  • Follow documented policies and procedures as designated by the company's Quality Management System.

Essential
Key Skills

  • Process and target driven takes time to refer to documented company process and assists with their updates where required and computes the links between targets and process
  • Manufacturing team leader experience
  • Structured problemsolving experience
  • Fluent in English
  • UK Driving License
  • Able to interact with a dynamically with operational staff and senior management
  • Be energetic and proactive in approach
  • Natural leadership qualities and ability to motivate a cross section of staff
  • Ability to manage concurrent issues
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Good working knowledge of all the standard Microsoft packages

Summary
The Production Group Team Leader is a pivotal role at the heart of the company's value add activities.

As well as contributing to the ongoing transformation of the UK site and operations there is the ability to work with international partners and delivertangible change to the business.

There will be the need for flexibility and involvement in additional project work as part of the wider business transformation phase over the coming 12 months and beyond.
