Description
We are looking for a part-time delivery driver to join our team and deliver prescriptions to our patients locally in and around Kirkcaldy.
This is a part-time role with flexible hours, usually 4 hours per day(weekdays only).We are looking to have a team of two drivers that can cover each others annual leave/absences to meet the needs of our patients.
The role involves driving the pharmacy car-based van and some pharmacy-specific training will be provided.Main purpose of the role
The pharmacy delivery driver will work under the direct supervision of the pharmacist/technician and will carry out day-to-day activities connected with the collection of prescriptions from local GP practices and delivery of dispensed medicines to patients' homes and nursing homes.
Primary responsibilities
- Ensure the vehicle is fit for the road by undertaking and logging routine checks of lights, tyres, oil, water, etc. on a monthly basis using vehicle maintenance log & report any defects to the pharmacy manager, to maintain the safety of driver and goods.
- Ensure vehicle fuel levels are monitored and vehicle is refuelled regularly as required.
- Ensure the vehicle is loaded safely, collecting and sorting all deliveries to make most efficient use of the service, for optimum efficiency and safety.
- Drive in accordance with the Highway Code regulations, and take responsibility for the vehicle, including security and the completion of relevant paperwork to provide a safe and efficient service.
- Maintain a clean vehicle both inside and out to provide a clean environment for users of the vehicle.
- To ensure the safe and appropriate storage of medicines in transit;
- To collect prescriptions from GP practices at agreed times and return them to pharmacy in a timely fashion prior to commencing delivery route
- To liaise with Pharmacy staff/GP surgery to resolve any queries relating to prescriptions
- To ensure at the point of delivery, the safe and correct supply of dispensed items to patients in accordance with pharmacy standard operating procedures.
- To work as part of a team and actively demonstrate a willingness to support and achieve the overall business objectives.
Person specification
- Full, Clean UK drivers license
- Ability to pass Disclosure / background check
- Methodical and accurate approach to practical tasks;
- Trustworthy and understanding of confidentiality issues;
- Strong communication and excellent customer service skills;
- Professional, tactful and friendly attitude;
- Ability to work effectively to deadlines
- Excellent team working skills;
