We are currently recruiting for an experienced Workshop Stores Supervisor to work within the Chiltern Transport Consortium for Thames Valley Police and will be based at Howes Lane In Bicester.

This is a temporary role and you will be working Monday to Friday 37 hours a week.

They are looking to pay £17.91 per hour.


PLEASE NOTE IF SUCCESSFUL YOU HAVE TO UNDERGO POLICE VETTING AND YOU MUST HAVE RESIDED CONTINUOUSLY WITHIN THE UK FOR AT LEAST 3 YEARS.

The key accountabilities in the role are as follows

  • Act as point of escalation to senior management for all stock/account issues, liaising with suppliers and/or finance to find quick/alternative resolutions. Ensure that staff proactively identify and raise potential stock issues and retain an awareness of current market supply conditions.
  • Day to day management of the staff employed at the workshop in terms of work allocation, quality control, supporting/identify training needs, recruitment, PDR's, annual leave and attendance management.
  • Ensuring stores administration including electronic job cards, raising and processing orders, stock taking is standardised across the group, while ensuring accuracy of the fleet management database is maintained.
  • Oversee the warranty process, ensuring training needs are met and all claims are maximised and submitted within time limitations, with standardised approach to claims submission.
  • Introduce procedures working alongside Fleet Manager, Workshop Mangers and Insurance Claims Handlers to minimise vehicle repair costs and downtime by utilising retained items from salvaged fleet.
  • Keeping old/obsolete stock at sites to a minimum by performing regular audits and disposing of old stock to maximise space within stores area.
  • Produce technical reports, costings and stock level requests as needed as well as ensuring stock takes throughout the year/year end are performed.
  • Work with Property Services and H&S, to ensure compliance with H&S policies/regulations including the safe disposal of environmental waste (tyres, oils, fuels, etc) COSHH compliance and manual handling.
  • Ensuring standardisation of purchasing routes from existing framework or locally arranged procurement with forward forecasting of stock requirements including tyres, oils etc.
The knowledge or skills required in the role are as follows

  • Proven experience at service/warranty supervisory level in a large main dealer environment.
  • Ability to demonstrate process reengineering or create new processes to improve efficiency, productivity and standardised ways of working.
  • Supervisory/management qualification or equivalent experience in a supervisory/management role. Ability to attend further training to ensure CPD is maintained.
  • Knowledge, experience and understanding of relevant health and safety legislation with reference to vehicle workshop activities. Experience of COSHH and willingness (if not already obtained) to attend courses and any subsequent refresher courses.
  • Knowledge, experience and understanding of stores environment and management across a large group/dealership network.
  • Previous experience of warranty provision in a main dealer environment.
