Reporting directly to the Voluntary Services Manager working as part of the Voluntary Services team, which includes volunteer Coordinators and administrative staff.

They will be the point of contact for the Volunteer to Career pathway. The role requires them to go on site regularly but also has a working from home element.

They would also regularly work with the wider team to identify and coordinate roles where the volunteers can be placed and actively recruit or identify volunteers suitable for the pathway.

This post will provide an efficient and effective administrative function to voluntary services supporting the Volunteer to Career pathway.

This will involve a range of coordination in all volunteer activity including, recruitment, placement, retention, and management of volunteers, in accordance with relevant Trust policies and procedures.


They will engage and support volunteers before, during and after their volunteering placements, ensuring that their experience is positive and beneficial to patients, NHFT and the individual.

They will actively seek feedback and carry out reviews with volunteers and services to maintain positive experiences for all and identify any additional needs that need to be met.


This role will lead on coordinating effective inductions for volunteers into the service and ensure that they have completed the required mandatory or role specific training to allow them to be effective in their volunteering capacity.

There will also be an element of needing to provide daily support and supervision of volunteers to offer support and resolve personal and professional issues and concerns.


The post holder will work within clearly defined occupational policies but there is an expectation for the post holder to be able to regularly deal with a range of non-routine activities including queries and requests that require problem solving, progress chasing and may require them to develop new or amend existing procedures.


The post holder will be responsible for following local procedures for maintaining accurate and appropriate information and recording systems relating to the Trust's volunteer structure and to maintain an up to date and accurate database of volunteers.

This will include updating the volunteer database and help to ensure all information stored is current, accurate and reflects all volunteer activity.

They will be expected to provide monitoring information and reports as required by the Voluntary Services Manager.
