We have a new and exciting opportunity for a Sourcing Specialist / Lead Buyer to join our dedicated, thriving international business, based in Bangor, Gwynedd.


International Safety Components Ltd is a leading designer and manufacturer of safety at height products supporting customers across the globe.

Materials Management includes production planning, direct purchasing, and material handling, which all interact extensively with our Production, Customer Service and Sales, and Product Design Teams.

About This Role:


This role is responsible for executing MRP schedules and supporting factory build plans, procuring raw materials and components, and tooling and services to enable outstanding product delivery performance to our global customers.

You will be responsible for developing and executing sourcing strategies for bespoke and commercial-off-the-shelf purchases, managing supplier relationships that meet and exceed product quality, and achieving service and cost improvement targets.

This role will also lead the Procurement/Purchasing team to develop 'Just In Time' (JIT) supplier relationships that achieve working capital/inventory performance expectations.


Your responsibilities will include, but not limited to:

  • Establishing sourcing strategies that result in a sustainable competitive advantage;
  • Managing strategic supplier relationships in line with Lean Manufacturing strategies and operating budget expectations;
  • Negotiating and executing contracts that deliver the best outcomes for I|S|C;
  • Driving sustained yearoveryear value improvement related to quality, service, and cost;
  • Defining supply chain technology roadmaps that align with longterm product needs;
  • Analyzing market intelligence and reporting on trends, risks, etc.;
  • Identifying sourcing risks and working with leadership team to define and execute mitigation plans;
  • Providing source selection recommendations for new products that align with the launch strategies;
  • Driving early supplier involvement with R&D to achieve development objectives, timelines, and costs;
  • Conducting onsite supplier visits for assessments, negotiations, business reviews, etc.;
  • Supporting or leading business process improvement projects;
  • Establishing supplier relationships that embrace a work environment of continuous improvement that supports I|S|C's Quality Policy, and applicable regulations;
  • Facilitating supplier business reviews.

Required Qualifications/Experience:


  • Level 5 CIPS qualification, or equivalent;
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Sourcing, Supply Chain Management, or Supplier Relationship Management;
  • Exceptional negotiation skills;
  • Working knowledge of ERP systems, ideally Epicor.

Preferred Qualifications/Experience:


  • MBA and / or Professional Certification (CPSM, CPIM, CSCP, PMP, Lean Six Sigma, etc.);
  • Mechanical Engineering background and/or strong Technical competence preferred.
