Description

We are currently seeking an experienced Technical Lead to join a public body in Scotland. The role is an initial contract of 12 months with the option to extend further.

The role is deemed to be outside of IR35 and can be based in Glasgow or Edinburgh with hybrid working, ideally a couple of days per week on site.

The Role:
Join a public body in the UK and take the lead in advancing and maintaining critical digital systems.

As a key figure, you'll be responsible for guiding an agile development team in enhancing and replacing legacy systems, updating search functionalities, and supporting existing document management tools.

You'll also champion technical excellence, ensuring adherence to industry standards, and fostering a collaborative team environment.

Responsibilities:

Leading the development and replacement of legacy systems. Overseeing updates to search functionalities and document management systems. Upholding high-quality support procedures and monitoring capabilities. Guiding the team in architectural design and adherence to engineering principles. Active participation in the organisation's architecture steering and community groups. Building and maintaining an agile culture focused on continuous improvement.

Requirements:

Substantial expertise in AWS technologies like Serverless, CloudFormation, and IAM. Strong proficiency in TypeScript, JavaScript UI frameworks, Java/Node JS, HTML/CSS, and testing frameworks. Extensive experience in technically leading cross-functional development teams and implementing high-quality technical solutions. Familiarity with Digital First or GDS quality standards and engaging with stakeholders across diverse business areas. Proven track record in incrementally replacing enterprise legacy systems and working within Agile delivery models. Exceptional communication skills to articulate complex technical topics to both technical and non-technical audiences.
