We're looking for an experienced Product Specialist to take a lead role in supporting the Welsh Community Care Information System (WCCIS).

WCCIS enables social care, mental health, community nursing and allied health professionals ensure that quality care and support for individuals, families and communities is more effectively planned, co-ordinated and delivered.

WCCIS is a key digital initiative for Welsh Government and is set out in the 'A Healthier Wales' plan.


The national WCCIS programme team has been established to work with local authorities, health boards and regional partnership boards in Wales, in order to co-ordinate activities and deliverables across a number of workstreams.


You will be a key member of the WCCIS Programme Team, and you will work collaboratively across Wales with Heads of Services, Executive Leads and Welsh Government.

The main duties of the role are:

  • Act as liaison between DHCW Informatics teams and the central Programme function
  • Represent relevant DHCW and WCCIS teams at appropriate forums.
  • Engage & maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Be the product expert and actively problem solve issues between user and supplier base
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Responsible for all aspects of provision of the specialist services for which the post holder is the Product Specialist (management, support and development).


To be the main contact point for specialist business knowledge regarding said services (in conjunction with the Senior Product Specialist, if appropriate).


Under the instruction of the Senior Product Specialist, and / or Application Manager, responsible for taking the lead on new projects within their product area, namely their development and deployment.

Agreement of appropriate service management arrangements for the on-going service as part of deployment.

Responsible for support of the existing services.

Responsible for the performance of the systems and the services.


In conjunction with their Application Manager and / or Senior Product Specialist, be responsible for defining the longer-term development strategy, to ensure that developed software will continue to meet constantly changing user and stakeholder needs.

Some aspects of the job will require Home Countries liaison with peers in England, Scotland and Northern Ireland. The post holder will play a key role in implementing change to meet new business requirements across the UK
