Job Purpose
To lead the day to day catering service as directed by the Hospitality Manager & Club Secretary Manager.


To help ensure that the hospitality experience for all members, guests and visitors using the Clubhouse in any capacity is pleasurable and delivered in a safe and presentable environment.


Job Holder Requirements

The Job Holder must:

  • Have experience of catering work / dining service management.
  • Have a passion for delivering excellent customer service.
  • Be able to interact positively with supervisor, management, coworkers, members, and the public to promote a team ethic and maintain a positive and professional approach to service delivery.
  • Be able to manage budgets, projects, and service contracts in compliance with relevant regulations.
  • Be flexible in their approach to their working hours some early mornings and late nights.

Accountabilities

  • Operations
  • In the absence of the Hospitality Manager help manage the daytoday operations of the bar and catering department as directed by the Hospitality Manager to deliver agreed budgets in accordance with club policy.
  • To assist with planning and implementing special club events and banqueting functions, and to lead on external events and Clubhouse use.
  • To assist with the planning and implementation of all external events utilising the Clubhouse, providing financial analysis information and customer feedback data to help drive growth within the department.
  • Staff management
  • To assist the Hospitality Manager with the short term and longrange staffing needs of the department within the overall staffing budget.
  • To assure the effective orientation and training for new staff and the professional development of experienced staff consistently to deliver department qualitative and quantitative performance standards.
  • Marketing
  • To work with the Assistant Club Secretary & Hospitality Manager in the planning and implementation of internal marketing activities for the hospitality departments.
  • To seek new and innovative ways to meet and respond to the needs and demands of an ever changing and diverse membership.
  • Compliance with Regulations
  • To maintain, develop and implement policies and procedures for the proper maintenance, appearance, upkeep and cleanliness of all food and beverage equipment and facilities across the Club.
  • To ensure a safe working environment for all department employees.

Principal Duties:


  • Day to day supervision of hospitality staff including agreeing the implementation of work rotas with the Hospitality Manager.
  • Staff training and development, stock control, clubhouse hospitality accounting and cash handling.
  • In the absence of the Hospitality Manager, dealing with member and guest complaints and advising the Club Secretary Manager about appropriate corrective actions to be taken.
  • In conjunction with the Hospitality Manager developing and adhering to the operating budget for each of the department's revenue outlets; after approval, monitors and takes corrective action as necessary to help assure that budget goals are attained.
  • To undertake any other duties as and when required by the Hospitality Manager to support the effective delivery of all hospitality elements within the club.

Working Conditions

  • Due to the nature of the role working hours will vary from month to month as the golf season and function business demand.
  • The role will therefore require the ability to work flexible hours to suit the needs of the business which includes early starts, late finishes and weekend work. The working week will be a minimum of 35 hours per week covering on average any 5 of 7 days. Overtime will be paid at the normal hourly rate.

Physical Requirements

  • The job holder is required to stand for extended periods of time and sometimes to do repetitive tasks with few breaks.
