SEND Secondary School

The Higher Learning Teaching Assistant will:

  • KS3/KS
  • plan, prepare and deliver learning activities with individual pupils, groups and (in the short term) whole classes, and also assess, record and report on pupils' progress.
  • Support pupils in meeting their deadlines and achieving their qualifications (BTech, Vocational Courses and class work/coursework)
  • Nurturing personality with vulnerable children/young adults
  • Calming approachable manner
  • Managing challenge behaviour with a professional attitude

Person requirements:


  • MUST have prior experience working with students with SEN or SEMH
  • A patient, nurturing and reasonable manner to help learners achieve their goal

Key skills and experience needed:

  • Degree is required
  • Ideal to have completed HLTA qualifications/TEFL/CELTA
  • Experience working with children of EAL
  • Contribute an enthusiastic and creative approach to learning.
  • Support with the delivery of the curriculum.
  • High levels of professionalism.
