Prescribing Support Pharmacy Technician - Primary Care

2 (WTE) x AFC Band 5 Pharmacy Technician

(part time would be considered)


Salary Scale:
£28,384- £35,365 pro rata

The NHS Lothian Primary Care Pharmacy and Medicines Service is undergoing an ambitious programme of transformation and integration.

Pharmaceutical care is provided by a team of around 100 pharmacy staff, including pharmacists, pharmacy technicians and administrators, working across General Practices and Pharmacotherapy Hubs covering the whole of Lothian.

These posts will give you the opportunity to develop your clinical and technical skills in practice to allow you to work within GP practices and/or the Pharmacotherapy Hub to provide holistic, patient-centred individualised care to improve the safety and effectiveness of individual's medicines.

There are also opportunities to become involved in joint projects/initiatives within the HSCP as required in accordance with identified local and national priorities.


With a National Certificate in Pharmaceutical Sciences or equivalent Pharmacy Technician qualification and current registration as a pharmacy technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council, applicants should have extensive post certification experience.

Primary care experience is not essential as training will be fully supported but experience of working with GPs would be an advantage.

Applicants should have excellent communication, IT and organisational skills and be able to work autonomously as well as part of a team.
