The role is based in London City and is part of the EMEA Actuarial Pricing team working specifically on Accident and Health, reporting to the EMEA Pricing Manager for A&H.

The pricing actuary will have regular interaction with other actuarial functions like Reserving, Capital, Predictive Modelling and Reinsurance.


Constant interaction with underwriting, claims and all parts of the business including regional management is a key element of the role.

A&H is a significant class of business for the Company and a growth target for the Group.

The business is written through a number of marketing channels, across all major EMEA territories and provides a variety of coverages including corporate personal accident (death and disability), business travel, a growing private travel account, critical illness, and redundancy.


Key responsibilities:


  • Support the pricing of Accident and Health products across the region.
  • Collaborate with underwriters in case pricing referrals.
  • Participate in product development and design or adjust rating models.
  • Perform product reviews to analyse profitability and identify trends.
  • Support annual business planning and established processes for loss ratio monitoring.
  • Build and maintain benchmark rating models for use by the underwriters.

Requirements & Experience:


  • Newly or Nearly Qualified Actuary.
  • Experience of Accident & Health, creditor, PMI, Unemployment or Travel.
  • Proven ability to price new products as part of product development.
  • Coding experience in extracting, cleaning and transforming large datasets is essential.
  • Experience with Python, R, ResQ, QlikView and Radar would be an advantage.
  • Excellent ability to explain technical issues in nontechnical terms.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to manage tight deadlines.
