We are looking for a highly motivational and inspirational lecturer to join our Maths and English team.

This is an exciting opportunity to join one of County Durham's leading Further Education providers to help learners on their journey to develop their skills in Maths.

There are opportunities for an enthusiastic lecturer to deliver our GCSE Maths, Functional Skills and unitised maths qualifications. We are looking for someone who can help our learners make positive progress on their learning journey in maths.

The post will involve delivering engaging lessons to a diverse group of learners across our three sites within County Durham.

If you would love to pass on your passion for maths and help people develop essential maths skills, then East Durham College is the college for you.


You may be required to teach maths across our three engaging and varied campuses, you will be paid mileage for any travel between the sites during the teaching day and we are open to discussing which campus would work best for you depending on the requirements of the timetable.

You will be involved in delivery of different maths qualifications to a variety of learners which may include:

provision in our in house Engage school & Home Educators Year 10 and Year 1- Mainstream vocational learners from a broad range of qualifications with their foundational skills assessments

  • Adults returning to education.
  • Foundation learners with SEND and Additional Needs


Unqualified lecturers with the required Maths Qualifications are also invited to apply, as long as you are committed to completing your teaching qualification within your first two years in post at East Durham College.


Essential Requirement:

  • Level 2 Literacy and Numeracy
  • A teaching qualification Cert Ed/PGCE/DTLLS
