Job Role


You will need to utilise your buying expertise through a category buying approach across the supply base that delivers optimum products and solutions to achieve the wider business objectives.

Deliver best in class buying execution, build expertise in Core Product Categories, manage and develop the supply base and develop their functional buying capability.


Responsibilities

  • Manage supply base and work with colleagues to ensure the required quality, price, and service standards are met or exceeded at all times
  • Ensure that all buying activities are carried out in line with company strategy, policies and procedures
  • Negotiate contract terms (e.g. pricing, rebates, promotional support, exclusivity etc) with the designated suppliers to achieve optimum commercial benefit and ensure that the commercial interests of the business are secured and protected
  • Develop and maintain live product category plans to provide ongoing recommendations to the business that will underpin and support the execution of the wider business objectives
  • Work with the Procurement Team on the progressive development of the company's buying process to meet the demands of the business and our customers
  • Liaise and lead to ensure continuity of supply
  • Propose and implement recommendations for income generation and/or reductions in expenditure
  • Demonstrate knowledge of market and category and be the 'expert' in their field

Personal Profile

  • Previous buying experience in a similar role at either a buying or junior buyer level
  • Experience of working to deliver to deadlines
  • Strong and clear communication skills
  • Basic appreciation of the requirement for Food Safety, Food Quality and Customer Audit Compliance
  • Educated to degree level or above is beneficial
  • Numerate, literate, with intermediate IT skills (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
