Job Summary:

Icestone Group is looking for a Baking Professional to join our team. This person will be responsible for preparing delicious and unique baked goods for our customers.

This position will be responsible for setting up the bakery, preparing the dough, baking the pastries, and cutting the cakes.

The position will also be responsible for cleaning up the kitchen and maintaining sanitation standards.

Responsibilities

Open the bakery early in the morning
Clean kitchen equipment and tools before use
Weigh flour and other ingredients to prepare dough
Adjust oven temperatures to ensure proper baking
Mix various ingredients to create fillings for cakes and pies (e.g. chocolate ganache, caramel sauce and fruits)
Recommend recipes to renew our menu and attract more customers (e.g. glutenfree or vegan desserts)
Follow standardized recipes for all products produced for sale
Keep daily production records, noting leftovers, product baked, weather, day of the week and date, and quantity of fruit used in product
Maintain a clean and safe work space. The kitchen needs to remain clean and tidy at all times. This includes wiping down countertops in between tasks, sweeping, moping, emptying trash containers, and keeping all equipment clean such as fridges, ovens, stove, mixers, baking racks, rolling bins, etc

Requirements and skills

Experience as a Baker or similar role
Familiarity with all professional kitchen equipment, including mixers, blenders and dough sheeters
Understanding of food safety practices
Experience with cake decoration techniques
Ability to produce consistent and delicious products
Ability to manage ingredient inventories and to track expiry dates.
Advanced ability to multitask and follow instructions given by bakers.
Flexibility to work in early morning shifts
Have a positive and serviceoriented attitude
Certification from a culinary school is a plus
