We have the pleasure of working with a well established client based in Mid Devon.

They are looking for a General Manager to join their team, and help run their two stores. This is a really exciting role, and will allow you to be part of a growing business.

What are you responsible for?

  • Reporting to the Board monthly, the General Manager (GM) is responsible for the daytoday running of the stores and online business. Initially at least, the GM will work closely with the Company's current CEO who will remain also as a major shareholderand director.
  • Manage the staff and operations of the (currently) two stores on the outskirts of Dartmoor area so that the company has a good reputation with customers, delivers on its values, and is profitable as a business.
  • Supervise and develop the online business, the web site and social media outlets so that orders are taken and delivered efficiently and on time, and the online business grows profitably as a result.
  • Manage and supervise the team of staff (including serving in the stores) so that they thoroughly motivated to serve customers superbly.
  • Manage, utilise, and develop uptodate sales and stock control systems so that profitability is measurable and increased by efficient systems.
  • Ensure that all outlets have sufficient stock of highquality products at prices that attract customers at at optimal margins on all items.
  • Take the initiative to create and organise successful events, tastings, and marketing promotions to promote the company's image and ultimately, to generate profitable sales.
  • Ensure that business accounts are kept accurately and on time so that cash flow is optimised, legal obligations (e.g. VAT) are met and the Board may see at any time the company's financial status.
  • Consider, and recommend to the Board, strategies for growth so that the business achieves its potential.
  • Sound knowledge and experience of generating and managing profitable businesses in retail, hospitality, or related businesses
  • Management experience of parttime and remote working staff including their motivation, integrity, and customer relations skills
  • Knowledge of wines and spirits and the enthusiasm to become better qualified.
  • Entrepreneurial and always seeking ways to improve the business.
