What we're looking for:


The ML Labs team at Tide is setting up a machine learning driven chatbot to help members resolve simple issues easily.

The end vision is that chatbot can help members resolve issues faster, build high quality customer service, without having to wait to speak to an agent all the time, but also helps agents become more efficient.

To help execute this vision, we are looking for:


  • Understands and brings experience in AI Design and Natural Language Processing
  • Minimum 6 years' relevant commercial experience in a comparable UX Design role
  • Brings specific expertise on creating effective selfservice experiences including AI chatbots and other technologies. One year experience implementing conversational bot tools, AI chatbots, and voice chatbots preferred.
  • Technical knowledge of the fundamentals of conversation (turntaking, cognitive load, pragmatics, prosody).
  • Experience using conversation design tools like BotMock or Voiceflow, or experience using virtual assistant platforms like IBM Watson, Kore.
AI, or DialogFlow or Rasa and experience in design tools such as Figma

  • Indepth knowledge of User Experience and Product Design methodologies including Design Thinking across the full range of usercentred design activities
  • Experience of the full cycle of Design Thinking, and awareness of how to implement this at scale within a growing business
  • Led or played a key role in the design of worldclass product design and launch in a fastgrowing company before.
  • Worked in fastpaced scaleup environments using the latest technologies

What you will be doing:

Tide is seeking a designer with expertise in designing chatbots.

We're looking for a bright, talented Lead Product Designer who is passionate about brilliant customer experiences and has experience in building conversational AI chatbots.

The impact and scope of this role are huge, and you'll be a key contributor to our continued success as we shape the future of our financial platform for Small & Medium-sized Enterprises.


The designer will:

  • You'll be responsible for the Product Design of a product area within the Tide app; understanding how it fits with the Tide strategy, shaping the vision and creating a cohesive, frictionless customer experience that works with other areas of the app.
  • You'll be embedded in a crossfunctional squad of Product Managers, Data Scientists, Engineers and content managers.
  • This is a fast moving project. We expect you to move with speed, while aligning with stakeholders. We aim to do regular releases, rather than one big bang deliverable.
  • You'll be responsible for all design artefacts, and working across all stages including initial discovery, research and journey mapping through to the execution of final highfidelity designs
  • Design high impact conversational experiences for Tide customers
  • Create design deliverables, including bot personas, sample dialogs, and conversation flow diagrams
  • Design the UX of how the conversational flow from member to assistant to agent
  • Is able to design story paths of specific user journeys for conversations
  • Design the experience of the virtual assistant in the tone of voice of Tide
  • Uses UX writing and brand skills to convey what the personality of the chatbot
