Locum Consultant Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon

  • Whole Time, Part Time or Job Share 10 Programmed Activities (an additional programme activity may be offered).


We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and forward thinking Maxillofacial surgeon to this post, who will work well within the team to continue to develop a number of leading regional services.


The department and Trust both offer a welcoming and dynamic working environment, with opportunities to participate in teaching medical students from the Hull York Medical School (HYMS).

Research opportunities are encouraged.

The departmentprovides a full Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Service (with the exception cleft lip & palate surgery & Craniofacial Surgery) to York & the whole of North Yorkshire (a population of around


Maxillofacial Surgeons currently work at York, Scarborough, Bridlington, Selby & Harrogate, with out-patient & day case surgery at the peripheral sites.

In-patient activity is at the York site where there is a well-established, dedicated Head & Neck Ward.

The department is well supported by Radiology, Pharmacy and Pathology and has close links with Orthodontics, Restorative Dentistry, ENT, Dermatology & Ophthalmology.

There is a well-established, IOG compliant, weekly Head &Neck MDT based at the York site.

The Maxillofacial Surgery Team provides a full ablative & reconstructive service as part of the Head and Neck MDT & works closely with YTHFT Occulo-plastic surgeons & Restorative Dentistry consultants.


The Head & Neck Directorate consists of Maxillofacial Surgery, ENT, Orthodontics, Restorative Dentistry & Audiology & has its own dedicated Outpatient setting at York and OP reception team There is a very supportive managerial team & good administrative & secretarial support.
