Role summary


We are seeking to appoint an experienced study co-ordinator to support the delivery of an NIHR Health Technology Assessment funded project [NIHR151938].

The C-POP study aims to explore the feasibility and acceptability of undertaking a study comparing the effectiveness of colpocleisis with sacrospinous fixation (SFF) in women with pelvic organ prolapse (POP).

Aligned with the 2021 MRC/NIHR framework this multi-method feasibility study will be addressed via four work packages (WP).

WP1:
qualitative interview study exploring insight from a diverse sample of women with AP (n~60).


WP2:
qualitative interview study exploring insight from HCPs involved in the care of women with AP (n~30).


WP3:
quantitative study exploring the number of eligible women for a future trial.


WP4:
national stakeholder event to gather feedback on the findings (n~30).

The post-holder will be based in the Institute of Applied Health Research at the University of Birmingham.

This post offers an exciting opportunity to work within internationally leading women's health research teams at the University of Birmingham, Glasgow Caledonian University, Exeter University, and with specialist uro-gynae clinicians across the UK.


Main duties


The C-POP Study Co-ordinator will be the key contact for the study and will be fundamental to ensuring the successful delivery of the research.

Their knowledge of the requirements of Good Clinical Practice (GCP) will ensure procedures are implemented to ensure all research related activities are run in line with GCP standards and the relevant EU Directives and UK legislation.

Their tasks, described more fully below, will encompass providing research-related administrative support to the chief investigator and wider C-POP Study Team, dealing with study data, supporting data collection, resolution of queries and data entry, budget management including forecasting, maintaining the study website and social media accounts, as well as organising a variety of events for a range of stakeholders.


The post-holder must have a high level of communication skills and be able to engage with a range of stakeholders including academics, clinicians, other professionals, and the public, as well as participants in the study.

Travel within the UK may be required to support study collaborators and recruitment sites.

The scope for this post is wide-ranging, assignments will likely vary significantly from day to day, initiative is therefore critical to the co-ordinator's role in order to identify administrative and practical measures to support the team's activities.

The post-holder will also be expected to provide more general support to the programme of planned work and is likely to be involved in the development and delivery of subsequent/ additional research projects.


  • To support Research Project delivery, Project Boards, workstreams and working groups within an overall project or manage elements of larger projects or smaller projects on your own.
  • Support may include some or all of the following:
  • carrying out project planning activities;
- identifying milestones which will need to be adhered to;
- data collection and analysis;
- milestone tracking/key performance indicator tracking;
- developing and proposing solutions for any issues;
- recommending improvements to project management;
- preparing progress reports for project boards or other meetings;
- assisting in budgetary monitoring and management, including reporting;
- assisting with stakeholder man
