This opening assignment is for 1-2 months

Full Driving Licence required A Street Lighting Clerk of Works is required to report to the Street Lighting Supervisor and to agree joint quality control procedures with the Project Team in accordance with the requirements of the Works Information. To audit such procedures and records to ensure that quality control inspections are effective and efficient.


Key responsibilities:

  • Prepare work schedules from high volumes of asset survey data (collected by others) in a timely and proficient manor, paying attention to detail and program milestones.
  • Continuously monitor work on site in accordance with the Contractors Method Statements and the 'Construction Health and Safety Plan' to ensure that the safety of all persons affected by the works are not compromised; promptly report breaches to contractors and consultants in written form.
  • Liaise with the Contractor's supervisory personnel to ensure a full, current and accurate understanding of the delivery programme, and construction methods of activity.
  • Carry out regular site visits to ensure that materials, construction standards and site practices are satisfactory. Check for component clashes and prepare Health and Safety reports.
  • Carry out duties to meet Health and Safety regulations, including CDM regulations on site and to monitor contractors on HS&E Practices.
  • Undertake a troubleshooting role, in consultation with the Street Lighting Supervisor, regarding defects and the organisation and direction of remedial works.
  • Check works are carried out in compliance with the Works Information including electrical testing of lighting systems and workmanship.
  • Compose records of the works; index and file all drawings and correspondence.
  • Inspect finished work(s), prepare schedules of, and supervise remedial works and provide certification of standards of work.
  • Schedule snagging items and defects at practical completion and at the end of the defects liability period.

Qualifications:


  • ONC or equivalent in Electrical Engineering or City & Guilds Electrical Test and Inspection Certificate.
  • BS th Edition IET Wring Regulations.
  • Hold G39 Certificate.
  • Hold NRSWA Certificate.
  • Hold a valid ECS card
  • Electromechanical Certification Scheme.
  • HERS Registered.
  • Hold a Full Driving Licence.

Experience:


  • A minimum of 5 years extensive hands on experience of local authority street lighting maintenance and construction (preferably including operating within a contractor type role providing such services).
  • Extensive experience of local authority street lighting work supervision and monitoring of projects (preferably including operating within a contractor type role providing such services).
  • Experience of analysing large volumes of survey data.
  • Experience in commissioning of street lighting projects including inspection and testing to BS7671, i.e. initial verification and periodic inspection and testing.

Knowledge:


Skills:


  • Proficient in keeping detailed records and photographic evidence in accordance with the Client's requirements.
  • Good communication skills and keen to work within a team.
  • Strong IT skills using Microsoft packages or equivalent (e.g. G Suite).
