About The Role:
Do you have an interest in good governance, decision-making and administration?
About the opportunity:
We are looking to form a pool of experienced school appeals clerks to provide high-quality legal and administrative support for our school appeal hearings.
Tasks and duties:
- Providing advice and guidance to Panel to enable it to carry out its judicial function.
- Providing independent and impartial advice to all parties on the appeals process and admissions law when required.
- Keeping an accurate record of the proceedings and sending written notification of the Panel's decision.
- Alongside Trust staff, assisting with the coordination of the annual cycle of school appeals.
- Supporting the recruitment, training, and development of Panel Members
We are seeking a professional individual who has:
The ability to give good, sound, pragmatic, concise and clear advice to Panel Members at hearings and to other relevant parties enquiring about the appeal process.
- Experience of clerking appeal hearings and ensuring they comply with legislative requirements, in accordance with government guidance.
- Experience of working in an administrative environment, ideally working within legal frameworks.
- Experience in minuting meetings, preferably in a local authority or school environment, and can produce clear and wellstructured written work, including reports, letters and notes.
- Excellent communications skills and attention to detail.
- The ability to deal with sensitive issues in a tactful and confident manner
