Introduction

People are at the heart of who we are and what we do. Day-by-day, person-to-person, we tailor what we offer to what people need. We're here to provide consistent, friendly and informed support so people can explore options and take 'the next step' towards a positive future. We welcome people with a wide range of skills and experiences to our team - including those who have lived through homelessness. To make a difference we need to work flexibly, with everyday-leadership, humour and a 'can do' spirit. We want to
make it easy,
make it right, and

make it happen - not only for the people we support, but also for each other. Our #OneTeam ethos is core to who we are, and it means caring for and supporting each other regardless of our role, service or location. We want people who share these values to join us and become a part of the Simon Community Scotland family.

'We See You' is a low threshold, inclusive and trauma-informed service for people who are still using drugs in Glasgow City Centre. The service delivers psychosocial group work, harm reduction interventions including pathways into treatment and opportunities for personal development, whilst working in partnership to provide holistic support within an environment of safety, inclusion and belonging. Modelling the harm reduction philosophy of 'meeting people where they are at', we will design person centred interventions that respond to immediate need and offer people a place to come which will build on a person's strengths, skills and ambitions to live well. We will deliver harm reduction interventions including access to essential safe equipment, overdose awareness and prevention, blood borne virus training and life saving

responses to overdose.

The project will offer a staged approach, building in peer opportunities and volunteering providing people an opportunity to build skills and experience, confidence and self worth.

'We See You' runs out of our Glasgow Access Hub, building on the amazing reputation and partnerships working that already takes place out of this space. The project will operate over
7-days with 24/7 support available through our freephone service.

We are really excited about the potential this project has to change the narrative around how we deliver services for people who use drugs in Glasgow and the Service Coordinator role will be central in supporting us to make this happen.

We are looking for someone who has ambition, creativity and a belief that people can be well and, with the right support, connection and opportunities can not just survive but thrive.

This project offers a new way of working - bringing together a harm reduction ethos and using this as a way to drive forward change, provide people with connection, opportunities and hope.

Building on the experience and learning from the first year, the Service Coordinator will have the opportunity to further develop and design a service which is unique and radically different to what people are used to - putting relationships, connection and kindness at the centre of our model and ensuring people feel cared for and supported to live well.

This service celebrates people 'where they are at' and has embedded a harm reduction ethos throughout the project where we will meet people where they are with no prerequisite the person needs to reduce or stop their drug use in order to access support and opportunities.

We want to widen the definition of 'recovery' and to refocus our attention on the person, and whatever works to help that person live well.

'We See You' will offer people pathways into treatment and support which makes sense for them, prioritising wellbeing and safety.

The Service Coordinator will be open to new ways of working and thinking, as well as have experience in supporting people who have a lot of difficult things going on in their lives and have a good understanding and ability to manage the emotional labour attached to this work.

Job Summary
Scotland has one of the highest drug related deaths in the world. More than half of homeless deaths in 2020 were drug related (NRD, These are not two separate issues and homelessness and drug dependence and harm are interlinked.

As such, services need to integrate and work together to ensure when people require help and support to aid their recovery that is available at the right time, at the right place and by the right person.

The Service Coordinator will be responsible for leading a small team of practitioners to deliver a unique harm reduction service from our Glasgow Access Hub.
