Llais is a new national, independent body set up by the Welsh Government to give the people of Wales a voice in their health and social care services.

Our role is to engage with and listen to the patients and public of Wales.

We do this by reaching out to people in their local communities, hearing their views and understanding their experiences of health and social care.

We will feed back to decision-makers to help shape and influence future services.

A fantastic opportunity has become available at Neath Port Talbot & Swansea Region - Llais for a Public Engagement Officer, to cover maternity leave for 6 months, Band 6, 37.5 hours per week.

This role is primarily based in the Cimla Health & Social Care Centre office.


You will attend public events to raise the profile of Llais and to collect feedback from the public on their experience of Health and Social Care.

You will be required to have use of your own car to attend these events.

This is hybrid role, with both remote and office-based working.

The ability to communicate in Welsh is desirable.

Main duties of the job

  • Organises or ensures involvement in network groups to obtain and present the public viewpoint on health and social care issues whether local, regional or national.
  • In conjunction with the Regional Director arrange surveys or hold meetings as required to identify public opinion and refer the information within Llais and subsequently health and social care service bodies.
  • Produce information leaflets and other publicity materials to promote the work of Llais.
  • Works on public involvement exercises as part of the process of consultation.
  • Work with the Regional Director to ensure and devise ways and means that the public are kept informed on important issues concerning health services and that changes proposed to service delivery are made public.
  • Promote the role of Llais.
