Clinical Support Assistant - Speech & Language Therapy

Band 3


We are offering an exciting opportunity to join the Speech and Language Therapy team within our inpatient Learning Disability Service at Brooklands Hospital as a Clinical Support Assistant.

We are looking for someone creative and enthusiastic with an interest in developing their knowledge and skills of working with this complex, varied and often challenging client group.


Brooklands Hospital is a Specialist Inpatient Service for individuals with a Learning Disability - services on-site include male & female Secure Services, Assessment & Treatment Units and LD CAMHS (Child & Adolescent Mental Health).

Speech & Language Therapy provision is integral to the Treatment Pathways in each of our services; offering assessment and intervention as appropriate to the needs of the individual as they progress through an Inpatient admission.


The successful applicant will provide essential support to the qualified members of the team and should have excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

A key part of this role will be providing administrative support to the team, often focussing on creating and developing patient led resources.

Comprehensive IT skills are therefore essential.

There will also be some opportunities to work alongside the wider multi-disciplinary team to facilitate communication and engagement in therapy.


To work with a small caseload of clients under the direct guidance of a qualified Speech and Language Therapist, chiefly to produce accessible communication resources and assist patients and staff to use them appropriately.


To monitor, evaluate and modify interventions using appropriate therapy outcome measures under the direct guidance of a qualified AHP therapist to ensure effectiveness and demonstrate efficacy of therapy.
