Applications are invited for a number of trust grade SHO/FY2 at Croydon University Hospital for a period of one year.


There is a large and active department of elderly care medicine which offers comprehensive geriatric services and covers subspecialty interests in stroke, orthogeriatrics, movement disorders and dementia.

The trust has been nationally recognised as being pioneering in the development of acute frailty services.


All posts would incorporate ward work fully supported by a team consisting of a consultant, registrar, fellow SHOs, FY1s and, for some posts, physicians associates.

Applications are invited for a number of trust grade SHO/FY2 at Croydon University Hospital for a period of one year.

Additionally the successful applicant would be participating in the general medical/elderly care on call as part of a 18 person rota.

This would include shifts covering out of hours ward work, supported by ward FY1s and a dedicated ward cover registrar, and also clerking on call shifts which are robustly supported by both the clerking medical registrar and Acute Medical consultant of the day.

  • Croydon University Hospital
  • Purley Hospital
  • The Sickle Cell and Thalassaemia Centre in Thornton Heath
  • Community bases at Purley, Sanderstead, New Addington, Broad Green, Woodside
  • A minor injuries unit in New Addington


The Trust was formed on 1st August 2010 through the integration of Croydon Community Health Services and Mayday Healthcare NHS Trust.
