Description

Portafina are pension specialists who see the world like normal people, don't charge upfront for our services and have grown in just a few years to around 160 people looking after over £1⁄2 billion of people's hard-earned savings.

Central to our brand is our combination of approachability and positive attitude towards life, no matter what your age.

This needs to shine through all we do, especially designed content where presentation is the split-second difference between tuning in or turning off.

Our ambition is to keep growing in this way and we have 'household name' firmly in our sights.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a graphic designer who wants to be an integral part of the in-house creative process rather than just the final stage of a production line.

Where brand guidelines set the parameters for results-driven experimentation and strong ideas are given the time and space to grow.

Do you embrace an iterative and collaborative process of content creation, where colleagues' thoughts on your designs hold as much weight as your insights on lead messaging or business processes? Does the design challenge of creating simple, accessible forms and reports get the juices flowing as much as a brand campaign brief? Are your first questions: who is this for? What are we asking them to do? Why would they do it? And are you comfortable probing the brief and colleagues until you get clear, simple answers to those questions?

You will need to be an extremely capable graphic designer, excited by the challenge of being the main point of design contact in a small, highly-functioning marketing team that is driven by the cycle of continuous testing and improvement.

It will be an advantage if you are familiar with designing for digital platforms, especially social media. An interest in video and illustration will be an added bonus.

You will need to be commercially minded as well as having excellent graphic design skills, with a keen sense of balancing flair with function.

We need you to thoroughly understand our business and the products and services we advise on, as well as our customers and their needs, wants and drivers.

Understanding our brand and getting into our customers' heads to influence them with your content you create is key to this role.

Responsibilities:

  • Designing onbrand and engaging content across a range of mediums for both on and offline platforms.
  • Working with the content, product and digital teams to analyse and improve content on a continual test and refine basis.
  • Research and learn from the way competitors and comparable industries approach graphic design.
  • Keep on top of the latest design principles, both on and offline, to enhance engagement, conversions and brand reputation.
  • Help maintain and develop an inhouse content library.
  • Take and respond to design briefs from both the marketing team and wider business teams.
  • Brief and liaise with external design agencies on an adhoc basis.
  • Work with the marketing and compliance teams to ensure designed content leads the way in terms of industry regulation.
  • Daytoday management of print orders.

Specific skills and experience required include:

  • Demonstrable experience of producing high quality graphically-designed content that responds to a specific business challenge.
  • You are highly skilled at using Adobe Creative Cloud, with a focus on In Design, Photoshop and Illustrator. Experience of using After Effects will be useful as we look to utilise video more effectively.
  • Creative flair: proven ability in translating abstract themes and ideas into visual solutions that immediately resonate with a wide range of different target audiences.
  • Concept development: demonstrable experience of taking an initial idea/concept and developing this into a finished product that exceeds the brief.
  • Experience of working to brand guidelines and interpreting them in a way that amplifies and develops the brand.
  • Team work: experience of working as part of a wider marketing team and contributing positively to its overall objectives.
  • Able to use Word.

Key Skills/ Competencies

  • Highly organised with excellent planning and time management skills, able to work to a mix of deadlines.
  • Adapting to changing circumstances and emergencies, and to prioritise appropriately.
  • Transforming complex ideas into simple, accessible and visual creative solutions.
  • Producing creative solutions that adhere to and develop established brand guidelines.
  • Knowledge of the different challenges underpinning digital and fourcolourprocess printing.
  • Excellent typographical as well as general graphic design skills.
  • Ability to present complex data in a simple, visuallyengaging way.
  • Producing a range of visual concepts in response to a brief.
  • Good understanding of FCA Financial Promotions guidelines.
  • Excellent research skills and knowledge of the different publications, tools and other sources for ideas, referencing and benchmarki
