£58,460 to £62,614 plus a Location allowance of £1,721. You will receive £58,460 the band minimum. Progress to the band maximum of £62,614 will be via incremental progression.

We have an outstanding opportunity for an experienced Electronics Senior Technologist.

We're looking for someone with significant hands-on electronic design and leadership experience to work in an exciting engineering and science environment, offering excellent employee benefits and delivering operational technology solutions to keep London safe.

The Technology, Research, and Innovation (TRI) team keep the Met at the cutting edge of tech. Our work is highly innovative; every project is unique. Some initiatives involve undertaking research with Academia or exploring new off-the-shelf technologies. Others involve modifying commercially available products or creating a whole new solution from scratch.

Delivery of these solutions involves the complete lifecycle from developing requirements with customers, producing design solutions and turning these designs into a fully functional product or system for operational use.

As the Electronics Senior Technologist, you will provide technical leadership to an electronics development team to enable them to effectively deliver bespoke electronic products and systems fit for operational use in the field.

You will provide day to day technical oversight, mentoring, and guidance to the electronics development team and have the ability to identify design problems early, steering the team to effectively design solutions.

You will also act as the technical design authority for all electronic designs to ensure design solutions are robust and fit for purpose to meet operational requirements.

This will involve running formal electronic design reviews to provide the necessary design oversight to projects.

Another important aspect of this role will be to provide the strategic direction to enable the electronics team to successfully develop solutions with the very latest electronics technology.

This will involve the role holder continually researching the very best modern electronic components, packages and techniques and conducting small exercises to prove their use.

Working with the electronics section manager and development managers, you will be providing the technical leadership to the electronics team to enable them deliver robust solutions to meet these requirements against operational deadlines.

A typical day may include engaging with highly experienced electronic engineers in your team providing them with oversight, guidance, and technical direction, engaging MPS operational officers to understand their requirements and conducting electronic design reviews.

As the Electronics Senior Technologist, you will be working with a wide range of stakeholders, some of the UK's top suppliers and highly experienced electronic engineers in your team, so you will need the ability to provide the necessary technical leadership and oversight so the team can maintain momentum on projects so that they can be delivered robustly to meet operational deadlines.
