Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and scientifically curious early-stage researcher to carry out a PhD studentship project on combinatorial therapies for repairing tissue and restoring function after spinal cord injury, in the laboratory of Prof.

Elizabeth Bradbury at King' College London, U.K.

The position is part of the ReWIRE ITN Marie Sklodowska-Curie Doctoral Training Network.

You will be one of a consortium of researchers who will be based in Research Institutes across Europe, with rich opportunities for interactions and secondments with the partner labs (13 partner labs across Europe).

King's College London will be your host lab where you will join the regeneration team, a dynamic group studying neuroplasticity, advanced therapeutics (pharmacological and gene therapies), recovery mechanisms and clinical translation following traumatic spinal cord and brain injuries.

We are based in a vibrant neuroscience department located in the culturally rich London bridge campus, in the heart of London.

The position includes a secondment in the laboratory of Prof. Joost Verhaagen, Netherlands Institute for Neuroscience, NL.

ReWIRE is set up to equip next-generation scientists with unique skills to develop ground-breaking therapeutic solutions for patients with paralysis.

The specific transdisciplinary and translational aspects will fill a gap in the traditional education programs and foster R&D competence in the field of medical products and advanced therapeutics, focused on spinal cord injury, but with broad applicability to other neurological disorders.

This is a fantastic opportunity to be involved in ground-breaking research that could have life changing impact for millions of individuals worldwide currently living with severe disability as a result of paralyzing injuries.

The researcher must not have been located in the UK for longer than 6 months prior to the start of the project
