Acorn Children's Home - Sutton Coldfield
We are looking for passionate and enthusiastic staff to join our team of bank/supply staff.

You will be required to be work with the children and alongside of the staff team and will be required to learn the role, responsibilities and duties within the setting.

You will need to be flexible and need to complete a full DBS check.


Acorn Homes is a three-bedded therapeutic residential home accommodating up to three young people between the ages of 8-18 years who present a range of challenging behaviours.

We are currently recruiting for staff to join our team here who have had previous experience working in a children and young people's residential home.

The successful applicants will be those individuals who are passionate and hardworking, and those who are able to effectively motivate these young people to achieve to their full potential.

As an Bank staff member, your duties will include:


  • Providing a caring home environment, in which the needs of the young people can be addressed in an effective manner
  • Providing 11 support to the young people, helping them with their independent skills. RSW's should act as a role model and demonstrate prosocial ways of dealing with problems
  • Safeguarding the young people at all times
  • Taking the young people out on activities, and encourage them to try new things
  • Ensuring that all paperwork is completed and up to date
  • Carrying out daily and regular cleaning within the home, and cooking for the young people
  • Working collaboratively and effectively with colleagues and young people to achieve the aims of the home
As an Bank staff member, the desired skills we look for are as follows:

  • Excellent communication skills
  • High level of patience and understanding
  • Thinking effectively on your own, and having the ability to take direction with the desire to further and expand on skills
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Being organised
  • Working well in a team

Required experience:

  • Required education: NVQ
  • Residential children's home: 1 year
  • High school or equivalent
