Do you have experience working with children with challenging behaviour? Do you have an assertive but patient approach to teaching and development?_

Ortus Recruitment are looking to recruit a resilient and proactive individual to take on the fulfilling role of a
Year 1 Teaching Assistant to support and encourage a child who exhibits challenging behaviour with Autism.

Individuals with mentoring experience or with behaviour management experience in a school setting will be ideal_

The pupil is bright and can be so sweet and polite, however he struggles with transition moments which starts from getting him into class first thing in the morning and every transition thereafter eg after break coming back in and after PE coming back to class.

When these transitions happen, he can get very verbally and even physically aggressive (lots of swearing) and run away within the school and sometimes rip displays and try to wind up other children to get a reaction.

Whoever works with him has to be very resilient and really dedicated because when this happens it is hard not to take it personally but anyone who stays consistently with him and turns it around will feel the most incredible sense of accomplishment and know that they have made a life changing difference

Main Expectations:

Strong behaviour management
Experience working with SEN children
Knowledge of the KS1 curriculum
