OVERVIEW

This is an exciting Sales Director opportunity to develop and drive the commercial agenda of a newly formed joint venture between three businesses in the food manufacturing/food ingredients industry.

We are looking for a Sales Director who will be at the centre of leading a customer focussed culture within the business and will play a key role as part of the Leadership Team.

The role will be responsible for devising and delivering the customer strategy,ensuring exceptional customer service meeting our customers' expectations thereby building the reputation and establishing the business as a first choice in their market.


Key behaviours/skills

  • Experience in food ingredients/commodities within a B2B environment
  • Ability to lead from the front
  • Have a strong leadership mindset and understand the impact and engagement that can flow into a team and business from this
  • Can demonstrate success in winning new contracts with big B2B customers
  • Ability to forecast sales realistically using data and market conditions for setting sales goals that drive business growth
  • Possess analytical skills to analyse performance metrics to make data driven decisions and highlight opportunities for improvement and growth
  • Experience of building/developing a business which has industry leading behaviours and results
  • Can demonstrate they operate in a values led way focussed on people and service to customers
  • Can demonstrate ability to develop sales strategy, converting this into clear plans that are understood by all teams
  • ESG and Sustainability awareness
  • Export/European sales experience would be beneficial in this role, but not essential

Key responsibilities/deliverables
-
Functional Expertise - to generate negotiation strategies and effective selling plans/campaigns to deliver agreed forecasts. Set clear objectives for all customer meetings and conversations including compelling reasons to purchase products

Project Management - to generate and lead agreed projects linking the business to customers in generating new and enhanced business and margins to improve volume and profitability.

Commercially Astute - to sell across the product range to balance the usage e.g. to sell prime products as well as bi
- products in the right ratio to maximise revenue and minimise waste

Customer Management - to manage the agreed list of customers, representing the business with the external market in developing and maintaining relationships at all levels whilst being aware of customer needs and competitor activity

Volume and Margin Delivery - to own and develop the sales budget/forecast by account with clear negotiation strategies to deliver to budget within completion dates

Business Development - in line with the agreed commercial strategy develop new business opportunities with existing and new customers, whilst creating a proactive relationship with target customer product development teams

Strategic Development
  • Recognise new market/consumer trends and competitor activity and ensure these are embedded in the business strategic planning process resulting in investment in new processes.
