Description

We are seeking to appoint a Therapeutic Counsellor to support the organisation in delivering a bespoke therapeutic intervention plan for all children residing within the organisation.


  • Deliver at a professional level and work in a collaborative manner with all.
  • Support and promote the strong systemic approach to delivering services for children and young people in promoting their emotional and mental health.
  • Embed and maintain the established principles of a high performing Therapeutic model by leading a clinical service delivery to the staff team in the form of group workbased practices.
  • Be responsible for the clinical support and development of the QEwC staff team, ensuring that training, supervision and professional development is managed effectively and appropriately.
  • B responsible for the accreditation, quality assurance and clinical performance of the organisation, aligning with the necessary regulatory frameworks and ensuring that this is a minimum baseline for performance.
  • Delivery of group, individual sessions to children in line with their personal therapeutic plan.

Responsibilities

  • Support the organisation in ensuring that the therapeutic needs of the children are promoted
  • Support the Care Home Managers of the organisation in delivering an ethos of therapeutic approaches to the offer of provision within the homes.
  • Carry out direct onetoone work with children in supporting their therapeutic needs in accordance with their personal plan
  • Compilation of relevant reports and contribute to young peoples' reviews both in person/attendance and in report form.
  • Create and carry out bespoke packages of therapeutic support for young people
  • Work in a holistic manner with the staff team and children at the organisation
  • Support, educate and work collaboratively with professionals, staff and the management team within the organisation.
  • Attendance at TAC & various staff meetings as required.
  • Supporting external professional meetings & representing the therapeutic aspect of the organisation as required.
  • Devise & deliver training and support to the care home staff team as required.
  • Ensure the systematic and coordinated provision of highquality specialist assessment and treatment to children with complex mental health problems, including children with severe, enduring multiple disorders, and challenging behaviour.
  • Taking lead responsibility for daytoday clinical operational decisions alongside the Care Services Director.
  • Utilise research skills for audit, measuring outcomes and contributing to research and training within the areas served by the team and service.
  • Contribute to reducing reoffending and improving psychological health and wellbeing through managing the effective and efficient delivery of a therapeutic intervention.
  • Be involved in development of service as appropriate.
  • Work within professional guidelines and other overall frameworks.

Leadership/ Managment

  • Participate as an experienced clinician in the development of a high quality, responsive and accessible services. Including professional management in those aspects of the service where matters relating to psychodynamic psychotherapy need addressing.
  • Exercise responsibility for the systematic governance of psychological therapy practice.
  • Participate in the development of an effective team in the development of productive working relationships throughout.
  • Facilitate the development of a positive and supportive team culture by taking responsibility for dealing effectively with potential conflict.
  • Lead in the audit process linking in with the clinical governance agenda.
  • Ensure that your community fully meets all requirements external to a therapeutic environment, but that is expected of all residential accommodation.
  • Lead and support relevant meetings as required.
  • Devise & deliver therapeutic training packages to the staff team and external agencies as required.
  • Manage own diary and schedule in coordination with the Care Services Director and Care Home Management.

Qualifications

  • Therapeutic Counsellor Qualification
  • Essential
  • Hold the required registration with the relevant Professional body e.g., HCPC, UKCP, IACP or BABCP and adhere to the associated Code of Conduct
  • Essential
  • Degree or Post Graduate Qualification in Psychology or equivalent as accredited by BPS. HCPC registration as clinical/counselling psychologist with Chartered Status
  • Essential
  • You will be qualified with substantial postqualification clinical experience in forensic or mental health work. The post holder will need to be able to work autonomously, have experience working as part of a multidisciplinary team and be able to make good use of supervision and line management
