Job Summary
General Practice Assistant (GPA) will deliver and assist clinical staff in the provision of treatment, preventative care, and health promotion whilst also supporting the nursing team with administrative support.

Primary Responsibilities
- The following are the core responsibilities of the GPA.
- Ensure specimens are recorded and ready for onward transportation
- Supporting with QOF reviews
- Supporting with clinical audits
- Arranging appointments and follow up appointments of patients
- Provide administrative support to the Nursing Team
- Updating patient group directives
- Coil and implant recalls
- Ensure all clinical rooms are adequately stocked and prepared for each session
- Supporting Infection Control Lead
- Supporting with Health and Safety, i.e. Risk assessments
- When trained, carry out baseline observations such as, blood pressure, temperature, pulse rate, recording findings accurately
- When trained, undertake venepuncture
- When trained, administer flu vaccinations
- When trained carry out ECGs as requested
- Ensure fridges are cleaned and checked routinely in accordance with protocols
- Take and record daily maximum and minimum fridge readings and report any out of range figures
- Order immunisations and rotate stock
- Order and maintain stock levels of consumables and equipment as required
- Act as a chaperone as required
- Participate in practice audits
- Participate in local initiatives to enhance service delivery and patient care
- Support and participate in shared learning within the practice
- Support the practice nurse in delivering health promotion programmes
