Our Field teams are critical in the delivery of our contracts, whether that is delivering or supervising maintenance, installation, cabling or civils works.

Reporting to and directed by the Area Manager the Principal Tech will drive the support and have accountability for the delivery of multiple work streams, taking them from estimate to build, through to release, completion, and handover.
These could include reviewing opportunity planning, design overview, route feasibility, premises / wayleaves, hot job progression and attending joint meetings, Network Rail interaction along with other utility providers, keeping the problematic elements of the workstack's fluid.
What you'll do:
- You will be identifying challenges and complexities that have the potential to impact all works such as traffic management or footpath and carriageway conditions after excavated activity. You will use your experience, knowledge and tenacity to minimise impact to delivery and cost
- You'll support all build activity and will be very much hands on through all technical aspects ensuring everything is in accordance with our high standards, contractual obligations and supporting streetworks compliance including aligning to all NRSWA and Code of Practice requirements. This will all result in a clean handover for all products that Openreach deploys through Telent and in turn we then engage through our delivery partners.
- You'll also play a primary role in the ongoing relationships we have with local authorities, since they'll be key to the delivery and coordination of the works. Using your excellent communication skills, you'll keep both internal and external parties informed on progress. This could involve attendance at meetings and site visits when dealing with customer complaints or disputes.
Key Requirements:
This role is very much an active and supportive function across all work disciplines you will ideally have:
- Extensive knowledge of the Telecommunications Industry, Civils Engineering and Poling including all overhead activity
- Desire to be upskilled and trained (for example you will be expected in some cases to carry out fibre splicing activity).
- Knowledge of project or programmed delivery.
- Demonstrable knowledge of CDM Regulations.
- NRSWA Supervisor course (Knowledge & experience) would be highly beneficial.
- IOSH Managing Safely.
- PIA accreditation / experience.
- Commercial Awareness understanding basic revenue models, P&L, and costtocompletion projections.
- Strong technical, analytical & problemsolving skills.
- Flexibility to travel in and out of area.
- Excellent Telent system operating skills (SUI, CTM, SOLO etc).
- Good communication skills both written and verbal.
- Computer literate good working knowledge of Microsoft 36
- Excellent time management skills.
- Ability to work unsupervised.
