About the team:
The Payroll team is based in central Bristol.

The team is responsible for the production of weekly and four weekly payrolls and pension submissions for GWR, Transpennine Trains Limited (TPTL), Hull trains and Heathrow Express.

The team process all payroll and pension data and assist with the resolution of queries from staff and external organisations.


About the job:
This position supports the payroll function for TPTL and Hull Payrolls. Working closely with the Senior Payroll specialist to deliver both weekly and four weekly payrolls. Responsible for processing high volume payroll data and provide day to day support and reports to customers.

Flexibility to work across all payroll teams to ensure a high quality payroll service is delivered to GWR and payroll services provided by GWR.


Your main responsibilities will be:

  • Responsible for compiling, amending and uploading of Time and Attendance data into the payroll systems from the various operating systems.
  • Processing Starters, Leavers and job change forms.
  • Acting as main point of contact for resolving payroll queries related to TPTL and Hull payrolls.
  • Absence processing.
  • Ensuring that all interfaces from internal and external sources are effectively checked and controlled before submission to the payroll system.
  • Ensuring GDPR compliance.
  • Ad hoc duties as and when required.

You'll need to be:

  • Experienced in working in a large payroll department and working to tight weekly deadlines.
  • Experienced in dealing with multiple terms and conditions.
  • Proactive with a positive cando attitude.
  • Professional, confident and act with a high level of integrity at all times.
  • Able to provide excellent customer service.
  • CIPP qualification or part qualification would be desirable.

As a minimum, you will need to have:

  • Knowledge of statutory payroll legislation.
  • Knowledge and understanding of payroll processes.
  • Excellent attention to detail and work with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills.
  • Excel intermediate level.
  • Strong system skills and ideally Cyborg.

About the location:
The team are currently based in a modern office space in central Bristol.


Working Pattern:
Three days per week - 16 hours per week.
