Summary_


Our Animal Care Supervisor is responsible for managing the daily activities of the animal rescue to ensure that all operations run smoothly, overseeing the day-to-day operations of site and animals.

You will manage staff and volunteers, maintain facilities and equipment, interact with the public and ensure that rescue animals receive proper care.

Additionally, you will be involved with fundraising efforts and fostering good community relations.

Job Duties_

  • Responsible for feeding, watering, grooming, training and medicating animals in their care.
  • Investigate complaints against animal cruelty and neglect, followup on complaints
  • Ensuring animals in the rescue have everything they need, duties may involve cleaning and maintaining kennels and facilities
  • Supervising and overseeing employees and volunteers, such as hiring and training, evaluating performance and setting work schedules effectively.
  • Establishing procedures and monitoring animal care undertaken within your area. Delegating work tasks, and ensuring policies and statutory requirements are met.
  • Training workers about animal care procedures and safety precautions, and preparing reports concerning the rescue, employees and treatment of the animals
  • Customer service duties, such as giving facility tours, assisting customers with appropriate animal care, dealing with complaints and assisting with adoptions.
  • Determining when animals require veterinary care.
  • Be responsible for keeping the rescue's records, maintaining paperwork to ensure our audits are successful Developing operational procedures that aid the site and team
  • Responsibility for monitoring inventory. planning and budgeting the purchase of animal food and supplies.
  • Promoting and organising adoption events, giving tours of the rescue, representing the rescue at community events

Education and Training Requirements_

An inherent love for animals. Proven experience of taking care of all kinds of animals. Experience of leading and managing employees and volunteers. Desirable qualifications include animal care knowledge and caring for and treating all types of animals.


Other essential skills include leadership, instruction and customer service skills as well as knowledge on diagnosing injuries and irregularities in animals.

Experience working with animals (particularly in a rescue environment) is a big plus.

  • Compassion_: Love of animals and kindness toward them and their helpers, fosters, and potential owners is a must for this type of position.
  • Physical stamina_: When working directly with animals, rescue Supervisors may need to kneel, crawl, bend, and be on their feet.
  • Communication skills_: Our Supervisors must interact regularly with staff members and the public about adoption and fundraising events, as well as the needs of the animals.
  • Financial management skills_: Our Supervisors must oversee a budget and plan fundraising initiatives.
  • Comfortable with technology_: solid computer skills including familiarity with using popular record keeping and word processing programs (Microsoft Word, Excel, and database management software).

Salary:
£11.50-£13.00 per hour
