I am proud to be working exclusively with The Samaritans to recruit a 'Campaigns and Involvement Manager' on a permanent basis.

As a 'Campaigns and Involvement Manager', you will be responsible for empowering people with lived experiences of suicidal thoughtsand behaviours by connecting them to policy makers and supporting efforts to influence change.

You will also lead national campaigns in collaboration with people with suicidal thoughts to ensure they have their voices heard and are at the forefront of Samaritans'influencing work.


Job Specification

  • Be responsible for creating and overseeing an engagement strategy to connect people with lived experience of suicidal thoughts to policy makers to ensure their voices are enhanced.
  • Oversee training programmes to enable people with lived experience to influence key aspects of the suicide prevention system including in their local areas.
  • Enhance level of participation of volunteers in Samaritan's influencing work whilst creating a series of toolkits and resources to ensure volunteers can expand their scope of influence in their local areas.
  • Manage a Campaigns and Engagement Officer whilst ensuring supports and volunteers have a positive experience.
  • Line manage the Participation Officer, devising the workplan for the Suicide Prevention Consortium and ensuring it is delivered on time and on budget.

Person Specification

  • Demonstrable experience of working alongside people with lived experience to collectively produce results and activities.
  • Strong awareness of effective advocacy and influencing strategies, including at a local
  • Able to oversee training programmes designed to empower others to advocate for policy change.
  • Excellent communication skills, able to cement relationships and build credibility with a diverse group of stakeholders.
  • Strong project management experience with demonstrable success in delivering on time and on budget
  • Ability to facilitate group discussions with sensitivity and empathy
  • Able to line manage effectively, with experience of collaborating with colleagues and overseeing projects within across different teams.
