JOB PURPOSE:


As a member of the senior leadership team, lead behaviour management and pastoral care throughout the school with a focus on pupil engagement and inclusion.


To assist the senior leadership team in raising expectations of behaviour, supporting classroom practice and enhancing provision to improve outcomes.


Staff are required to adhere to all Emscote School Policies and Procedures, must comply with legislation and school policies relating to discrimination.

They are required to promote anti-discrimination practices in all interactions with students and colleagues and demonstrates and promotes an understanding and appreciation of difference in personal characteristics, belief system and cultures.


Main Responsibilities:


  • Create a positive, safe learning environment through the promotion of the school ethos and vision
  • Direction of staff under the guidance of Principal and overview of Education under the guidance of Deputy Head
  • Support with new student visits and enrolling new students including updating and maintaining the database
  • Attending and Initiating Early Help Meetings, Child in need and Child Protection meetings as required.
  • Responsibility for all attendance logging and monitoring.
  • Identify groups of pupils and individuals who are at risk of underachieving and devise strategies / interventions for raising their achievement.
  • Support the deputy head in the day to day running of the school and staffing.
  • Work closely with others in schools to achieve a full and shared understanding of the needs of individual Child/Young Person.
  • To write behaviour plans to ensure a consistent, yet individualised approach for students.
  • To carry out the role of Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead.
  • Management of issues that arise in the absence of the senior leaders.
  • Understands lesson objectives and ensure they are delivered accordingly.
  • Challenging students when possible behaviour issues arise and following up where necessary
  • Work within wider legislation framework, e.g. national curriculum, health and safety, child protection.
  • To support with the School Improvement plan as a part of the Senior Leadership Team.
  • Facilitates participation and learning, helping to build confidence and selfesteem, so that all students, including those who present challenging behaviour, are enabled to reach their full potential alongside their peers via direct intervention work.
  • Contributing to the review of students' progress either verbally, in writing or through attendance at review meetings, as appropriate.
  • Contributing to the assessment process with other staff members.
  • Carrying out administrative tasks associated with the above duties as directed by SLT, i.e. writing short reports concerning individual students.
  • Providing regular feedback about the student(s) to relevant members of the school/parent/carers.
  • Supporting in the development of home/school links.
  • Assisting in the smooth transition of students between educational phases.
  • Assisting with lunch and break time supervision of students on a rota basis.
  • Maintain confidentiality with due regard to data protection.
