SRG are currently working with a global pharmaceutical company based in Cambridge, looking for a Senior Scientist (Target Validation) to join the team.


This exciting position will be working in the Functional Genomics Target Validation team, providing the chance to join a growing and dynamic environment focused on the large-scale biological annotation and validation of hit lists coming from functional genomicsscreens, to translate them into new drug targets for our client's oncology pipeline.


Our client is looking for applicants with strong cellular biology expertise, knowledge of high-throughput plate-based cellular assay and a passion for rigorous validation of novel target opportunities.

A broad technical knowledge is required to assay the functionsof large numbers of genes involved in different signalling pathways to deliver robust datasets that impact on target decisions.


ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

  • PhD in Molecular or Cell biology or related field, with significant proven experience (1 year +)
  • Experience of cell culture including a practical understanding of assay optimisation to enable generation of reproducible and sensitive high throughput platebased cellular assays
  • Proven experience in molecular and cell biology techniques, including cloning, transfection and transduction methods, generation of engineered cell lines, high content imaging, transcriptomics assays, assessment of cellular signalling.
  • Understanding of critical steps in target validation campaigns
  • Capable of scouting for scientific and technical developments in the fields of CRISPR screening and target validation
  • Excellent team working, communication and networking skills with experience of interacting effectively across interfaces of discipline, culture, and expertise.

DESIRABLE REQUIREMENTS

  • Practical experience of delivering target validation and deconvolution work packages
  • Background in Cancer Biology
  • Experience in the use of patientderived models for oncology
  • Good publication records in peerreviewed journals
  • Experience of working in external collaborations both in academia and pharmaceutical industry
  • Building and developing arrayed phenotypic or genetic perturbation screens such as siRNA or CRISPR for target identification and validation ideally at 96 to 384 well scale and with the use of liquid handling and automation
