About the role
Are you passionate about digital content?

These are exciting times for Crawley Borough Council as we continue our ambitious transformation programme with digital at the heart of it.

Our friendly and motivated team is working hard to improve digital service delivery and we are looking for a capable and enthusiastic person to join us.

Our family of websites includes our main website, a staff intranet, Invest Crawley and our self-service portal myCrawley, as well as smaller websites.

We work with open-source technology to develop websites that meet our customer's needs and have a programme of continuous improvement and development - adding new features, carrying out content reviews and developing new websites.

All while managing the constant flow of new and updated content, which is where you come in.

With experience in the use of content management systems, you will use your skills in writing content for the web and knowledge of best practices and accessibility standards to help maintain and update our public websites and intranet.

Naturally, you will have excellent writing, editing, fact-checking and proofreading skills and will be able to use them to publish high quality content and support content improvement projects.

You will also provide support and guidance to content owners. Your excellent communication, influencing and relationship building skills will help you deal with stakeholders across multiple service areas.

You must be well organised and able to respond to the pressure of this busy role, while maintaining the critical attention to detail it requires.

Experience working with information architecture and user journeys, personas and research techniques will be a distinct advantage.

Additional information
This post is for 15 hours per week, preferably over at least 4 days. Working hours each day are open for discussion.

We work a hybrid of at home and in our brand new, purpose-built Town Hall, so you will need to be able to travel into Crawley when required.

Employee benefits
We offer a generous employee benefits package, with a range of discounts, benefits and wellbeing incentives to suit everyone.

Our way of working
Our shared values and behaviours reflect the special nature of our council. We encourage all colleagues to put them into practice, whatever job they do. Take a look to see if we are the perfect match.
