As part of our commitment to the continued expansion of medical, pharmaceutical and health sciences at Bangor University, the newly formed North Wales Medical School seeks to appoint a Senior Lecturer in Pharmaceutics to contribute to the development of our proposed MPharm degree programme.


We are looking for an outstanding individual to contribute to the development and delivery of a newly planned MPharm programme at Bangor University.

The new programme will align with the GPhC's new Standards for Initial Education and Training of Pharmacists.

You will be an experienced educator with a track record of research or scholarly achievements who seeks the excitement of being part of a pioneering team.

Whilst expertise in any aspect of pharmaceutics and drug delivery is welcomed, additional experience of pharmacy practice or working with the Professional Body (GPhC) on curriculum development or programme recognition is particularly desirable.

The ability to communicate in Welsh is desirable for this post.

Purpose of the Job

  • To maintain and grow a worldclass profile of publications in peerreviewed journals of international standing.
  • To teach at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, including supervision of projects and students.
  • To develop teaching materials or methodologies, for example course design or assessment and being module coordinator or contribute to module coordination.
  • To provide pastoral and academic support to undergraduate and postgraduate students.
  • To undertake School and College leadership roles and other duties and responsibilities as directed by the Head of School of the North Wales Medical School.
Main


Responsibilities:

Working with the Professor of Pharmacy and Head of Pharmacy Programme along with the Head of the North Wales Medical School, the post-holder will:

Teaching duties:

  • Plan, prepare and deliver lectures and tutorials, responding effectively to a variety of student backgrounds, learning styles and class sizes. Supervision of undergraduate and postgraduate projects.
  • Contribution to teaching development plans, policies and activities.
  • Fulfilling the role of personal tutor to a number of undergraduate and postgraduate students, providing advice, guidance and support.
  • Participation in academic quality assurance as relevant to the post, including having a key role in ongoing curriculum review processes. Lead the review of modules and programmes and quality assurance mechanisms.

Research duties:

  • Conduct internationallyexcellent or worldleading research within the School and in collaboration with relevant partners within and outside the University.
  • Management of research projects, with an emphasis on grant capture and research output of a quality and quantity to contribute positively to future Research Excellence Framework submissions.
  • Disseminate and publish results of research as lead author in high quality, leading, peerreviewed journals, book chapters, articles or monographs.
  • Supervision of PhD level research students to completion, and undertake PhD examining in the UK and internationally.

Administrative and Wider Contribution duties:

  • Contribute to academic management, planning, governance and policy formation at University, College and School level.
