A bit about the role

We are looking for a passionate and motivated person to work within our Wellbeing Team at Newcastle Carers, a successful and well-established charity within the city.

You will deliver complementary therapies, including aromatherapy, reflexology and energy healing, to help empower and support adult carers to manage the emotional and physical stress caused by their caring role.

Key Responsibilities

  • To assess carers' needs, identify the appropriate treatment and treatment plan, and modify it to within the agreed level of competence.
  • To monitor and review the carer's progress within their treatment plan.
  • Always maintain carers' privacy and dignity, providing emotional support and communicating effectively, ensuring they are heard and valued.
  • Always ensure carers' confidentiality and identify concerns that may lead to safeguarding or a risk to the safety of a carer or someone else and refer this to management.
  • Be able to empathise and listen to sensitive issues.
  • To maintain a safe working environment and ensure a high standard of hygiene and cleanliness in the therapy rooms.
  • Essential and base oils: monitor the quality of oils and ensure that they are stored safely and correctly. Liaise with the Team Leader to ensure adequate stock of essential oils and carrier oils and ensure that risk assessments are up to date and reviewed.
  • Record each treatment session and maintain accurate records of carers' ongoing treatments using Newcastle Carers IT systems (training will be given).
  • To recognise and identify the needs of carers and liaise with colleagues (e.g. needing support with housing, finance, referral for counselling or signposting to other organisations).
  • Follow the organisation's policies and procedures, e.g. safeguarding policy.
  • Attend appropriate meetings and training and provide feedback to other staff.
  • Undertake any other reasonable requests for work as directed by the Leadership Team.
  • Maintain registration and CPD requirements with appropriate professional bodies (e.g. AoR / IFPA / IFA / CNCH).
  • Take responsibility for identifying personal and professional development requirements and communicate these to the Team Leader

Person Specification:
