The difference you will make as a Money and Benefits Advice Team Leader


The role holder will lead and manage the delivery of quality, effective, Money & Benefits Advice services to customers across The Riverside Group, supporting customers to maximise their benefits entitlement, manage their budget, reduce their rent arrears and access specialist support services as required.


You will role model Our Riverside Way values, and work closely with other teams to ensure that services meet our aspirations, and that our customers trust us to deliver on our commitments.

You will drive the continuous improvement of the customer experience, while relentlessly reducing waste and improving value for money.


About You

We are looking for someone with:

  • Demonstrable commitment to the Riverside Values
  • Experience of managing teams delivering a Money / Welfare Benefits advice service.
  • Proven ability to lead and motivate teams, including remotely, and to manage and report on performance.
  • A strong customer focus, with excellent communication and influencing skills.

Role Profile

  • Actively promote the services of the Money & Benefits Advice Team to customers, stakeholders and internal teams, to maximise the social return on investment the team delivers through internal and external communication plans.
  • Support the Income Excellence Lead in their role as Strategic Lead for Money & Benefits Advice, remaining abreast of legislative changes in Welfare law etc, and ensuring that policies and procedures are updated appropriately.
  • Develop links with other service providers, voluntary and statutory, and maintain good working relationships, maximise income, cover costs and extend provision, actively promoting Riverside.
  • Champion the customer and lead by example, role modelling our Riverside values, to create a strong customer focused culture. Work collaboratively across the organisation, building constructive relationships with Income Management and Housing Services to maximise the impact of the team and ensuring that services meet the needs of our diverse customers, and the communities in which we work.
  • Proactively manage and motivate a highly skilled and adaptive team. Provide clear direction and regular communication and engagement opportunities, reviewing work outputs, setting improvement targets and appraising individual performance.
  • Monitor, review and report progress as required, on the performance and cost effectiveness of the service, analysing relevant data and seeking feedback from customers and colleagues to identify and implement efficiencies and improvements to performance and customer satisfaction.
  • Lead your area of the business to inform, contribute to and /or own and deliver plans and strategies in line with corporate frameworks, such as Risk Registers, Business Continuity Plans, Service Improvement plans etc. Ensure compliance with Group requirements in health & safety, safeguarding, equality & diversity, and data protection.
  • Contribute to the development and review of relevant budgets, ensuring income and expenditure (as appropriate) is robustly managed in line with Group financial controls.
