Our Client (a Building Society) is looking for an Operational Procedure & Governance Specialist to join their Savings Team.


This role will manage the procedures, processes, and policies for the Savings Team to provide an efficient and professional service to the Society's members and create efficiencies within the department.

This role is responsible for recommending change and making key decisions with ownership of processes, procedures and third-party relationships. The role will also take a key role in Savings related projects, planning and implementing these within the department. In time it is likely that the role will work across both the savings and mortgage departments.


Technical skills, knowledge and experience requirements

  • Experience of working in a retail bank or building society with knowledge and understanding of the regulation in a Financial Services organisation
  • 5 years+ experience within a Savings environment
  • Experience of designing and writing policies.
  • Experience of creating procedural guides.
  • Experience of designing and delivering operational training.
  • Excellent writing skills, with good proofreading ability.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to engage and work in partnership with business stakeholders.
  • Good analytical mindset and able to interpret wideranging information and make appropriate recommendations
  • Must have strong PC and Software skills which including Excel, Word and Power Point
  • Able to focus on detail, be a good completer/finisher and produce high quality deliverables.
  • The ability to complete tasks using own judgement with good time management skills.

Main Duties and responsibilities

  • Support the development of the branch and digital savings distribution channels through the implementation of new savings products, services and initiatives and updates to the departmental policies, processes, procedures and Society documentation.
  • Maintain knowledge and comply with all regulatory, legal responsibilities and codes of conduct to which the Society must comply i.e. AML, MCOB, DPA, TCF etc.
  • Ensuring the Savings Department is compliant with all regulatory, legal responsibilities through the creation and maintenance of policies, procedures, processes and documentation
  • Identify and implement opportunities for continuous improvement of policy, processes, procedures and documentation.
  • Support IT with the testing and implementation of system releases to Pro-Vision & Chorley Online (our savings systems), build changes into the Savings processes, procedures and policies and provide training to the team on any changes.
  • Providing guidance to the team and the Society with respect to changes to savings processes and procedures
  • Provide training and development to the savings team in line with the departmental policies, processes and procedures.
  • Undertake savings related Board reporting and Management Information as required by the Head of Operations.
  • Manage the contracts for any outsourced arrangements for the Savings Department, ensuring appropriate due diligence is undertaken.
  • First line of defence for all aspects of savings activity including quality, risk and control management.

Salary:
£30,000.00-£40,000.00 per year
