DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Communication and relationship skills Communicate with colleagues, patients and staff in a professional and supportive manner.

Ensure routine information is received and communicated to operational staff in a suitable manner in order to understand the content and any possible implications it may have.

Provide the day to day supervision, communication, training and development of domestic and deep clean teams. Provide a point of contact and engage all staff in departmental issues and changes.

Meet with service users with regard to cleaning services in conjunction with the deputy site services manager. Assist with implementation of changes to service delivery. Ensure a partnership approach is adopted across cleaning services at all times. Support the resolution of problems, interruptions or service emergencies.

Undertake staff induction, operational and refresher training as required. Resolve routine operational services issues and failures using own knowledge and experience.

Analytical & Judgmental Skills Ensure all shifts rotas are covered including adequate arrangements for sickness, holidays and other absences and have ability to prioritise key areas.

Monitor the quality of work activities undertaken by the designated team using IT based systems, C4C, through audit and working with infection control colleagues in accordance with key performance indicators.

Produce reports to evidence the monitoring information to address any shortfalls in service. Carry out stock checks and distribution of domestic consumables across site to sluice rooms. Maintain accurate records relating to Domestic & Deep Clean Services.

Planning & Organisational Skills Organise and plan staff rotas, work plans and cleaning schedules Supervise the services in line with the operational cleaning policy and procedures.


Plan and schedule cleaning audits Physical Skills Be able to train staff in use of cleaning equipment and be able to operate the equipment where required Ability to use laundry equipment in order to operate a swift efficiency laundering process.

Have good keyboard and audit equipment skills including carrying out electronic cleaning monitoring records e.g. C4C Monitoring Oversee the stock control and cleaning monitoring software; responsible for upgrades on the network. Responsibility for Patient/Client Care Provide a high quality, patient focused Domestic & Deep Clean operational service.

Respond to all Domestic & Deep Clean operational work requirements in an effective and timely manner.

Ensure cleaning services are provided in environments which promote effective care and optimise health outcomes which protect patients, staff and visitors Responsibility for ensuring regular ward/department visits to monitor the quality of cleaning services.

Responsibility for Policy/Service Development Follow Trust policies in own area of work, propose changes to working practices were applicable Ensure that staff work to risk assessments and adhere to the relevant controls.

In conjunction with service managers, review and implementing standard operating procedures for all areas of responsibility, including, all aspects of cleaning, purchase, storage, production, and service.


Responsible for reviewing and where necessary introducing corrective actions for complaints, incidents and comments positively to review and improve services.

Participate to initiatives and strategies in order to ensure integration with new developments and systems. Responsibility for Financial & Physical Resources Make best use of resources and minimise waste.

Ensure the safe and effective use of equipment, manage and maintain stock control as required Check department financial documentation e.g.

overtime sheets, clock cards and consumable usage.

Identify and action any poor practice which may result in financial loss to the Trust and report to the deputy services manager.

Responsibility for Human Resources Ensure all aspects of routine supervision, appraisal, discipline, training and delegation are understood and achieved.

Review with deputy site services manager allocation of roles, responsibility, departmental workloads and training needs proposing changes as required for service improvement Support the induction of new starters; provide staff with induction, operational and refresher training, monitor performance to ensure compliance with legislation, trust requirements and national cleaning standards.


Undertake annual performance development reviews (PDRs) Undertake the return to work process in line with the Trust management of attendance procedures.

In conjunction with and assisted by the deputy site services manager, carry out stage 1 management of attendance throughout the department.
