An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Critical Care Team as a Critical Care Data Clerk with an interest in Intensive Care National Audit Centre Data Collection (ICNARC) and Enhanced Recovery after Surgery (ERAS).

The post holder will make a direct and positive contribution to the team.

They will organise their workload and co-ordinate their activities with other critical care unit staff to ensure that an efficient service is provided.

To achieve this you will need to be highly self-motivated and have excellent communication and interpersonal skills. We will provide ongoing support, advice and learning opportunities to help you to achieve this.

The post holder will be responsible for coordinating and managing complex data generated from the critical care unit. They will undertake data collection for ICNARC and ERAS for internal audit and local and national research programmes. They will also support the critical care follow up clinic and the ERAS clinic, booking patients and making appointments.


The post holder will exercise a degree of independent judgement on a regular basis to ensure accurate data input and highlighting any concerns regarding the data before it is fully collated and added to the national data base.

The post holder will:

- be competent in using NHS computer systems such as CCMDS, MEDICUS, Evolve and PAS.
- be competent in using word processing, databases and spreadsheets.
- have a working knowledge and understanding of the audit process and be competent in data collection, analysis, and formulating reports.
- will assist in the collection of accurate and up to date data.
- will liaise with other members of the team
- produce monthly and yearly reports
- identify inaccurate data and assist in amending and correcting it.
- complete and dispatch discharge notes and ensure that records are complete before forwarding.
- assist registered nurses and medical staff to maintain admission, discharge and transfer records both electronically and in hard copy

If successful this vacancy will require a Standard DBS check at a cost of £21.90. This cost will be deducted from your first Trust salary


In addition to this it will be a condition of your employment that you will join the DBS update service and pay the annual subscription fee of £13.
