Description
The provision of the acute surgical on call is on the Worthing Site. This is undertaken on a 1:8 rota with the other 7 Surgical consultants. The remainder of the time is spent on elective activity.

During the elective weeks, the post holder will be responsible for the delivery of out-patient clinics, theatre sessions and endoscopy as detailed in their job plan.

The clinical duties of the post include the following:

  • Provision of the highest quality emergency surgical care
  • Provision of outpatient services as agreed after appointment
  • To work with colleagues to advance the Surgical service
  • To share with colleagues the provision of general surgery advice to medical and surgical
- inpatients at all sites

  • To have responsibility for ensuring active participation in continuing professional development (CPD)
