We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced practitioner to join the Parent Infant Relationship Service in Sheffield. Sheffield's Parent Infant Relationship Service (PAIRS) is a relatively newly established and growing specialist service within CAMHS.

We are a small team of psychologists and psychotherapists who are passionate about supporting parents, carers and professionals to make sure that every baby in Sheffield has the best possible start in life by promoting healthy parent infant relationships.


We are looking for someone with initiative and imagination to be part of a developing service and, ideally, someone with a level of experience working in this area, though this is not essential.

You will be required to have good communication skills and be able to build positive, respectful relationships with other professionals and with clients, including babies and young children, from a range of backgrounds.

This is a term time only contract.


To work as a practitioner in the Parent Infant Relationship Service (PAIRS) providing support to families experiencing difficulties within the parent infant relationship during the perinatal period from conception to the age of 3 years.


To work closely with other members of the team, to support the attachment and bonding process through pregnancy; deliver evidence-based interventions that promote attuned parent infant relationships and help parents/carers to see things from their baby's perspective; and promote healthy infant development by providing information and support to parents/carers to feel confident about talking, playing and interacting with their baby.


The role will involve working closely with colleagues in Health Visiting, Midwifery, Perinatal MHT, Local Authority Early Years/ Family Hub Services, Children's Social Care, IAPT and other AMH services.

  • To work in partnership with families in the delivery of plans for intervention and agreed outcomes within the family home and clinical settings.
  • To operate from an inclusive value base, which recognises and respects diversity.
  • Through close management and supervision, to escalate cases where the level of need becomes beyond scope or more severe, ensuring adherence to SCHFT safeguarding policy and procedure.
  • Attend multidisciplinary meetings with the PAIRS team where referrals will be allocated to the appropriate practitioner.
  • Keep coherent records of all activity in line with service protocols and use these records and outcome data to inform decision making.
  • Complete all requirements relating to data collection.
  • Work collaboratively, involving a range of relevant others when indicated.
  • Work in collaboration with families and communities to enhance and widen access.
Training and Supervision

  • Prepare and present case load information to supervisors within the PAIRS service on an agreed and scheduled basis, with the aim of maintaining safe practice and good governance, ensuring a high standard of service delivery.
  • Participate in reflective supervision and through discussion and agreement make any required changes to the agreed plan of care.
  • Attend safeguarding supervision in line with service standards.
  • Alongside other members of the team, provide training and support as appropriate to other professionals.
Professional

  • Ensure the maintenance of standards of practice according to the employer and any regulating bodies and keep up to date on new recommendations / guidelines set by the relevant departments.
