Birmingham City University is a large and diverse university, based in the heart of the city. An exciting opportunity has arisen for a data analyst to work across our Market Research and Widening Participation teams.

The postholder should be experienced in data handling and reporting, and previous experience working in education would be welcomed, although not required.

You will primarily be working on BCU Accelerate, our flagship widening participation (WP) programme.

The postholder will be tasked with gathering and analysing data, working with our partner schools and our WP team to access and interpret learner attainment data.

Producing termly and yearly reports you will detail the success of the programme based on agreed targets and baselines.

Working towards targets set out in the University's Access & Participation Plan, the Evaluation Officer will ensure that all data analysis and reporting works within the required structures as set out by the Office for Students.

Key reports will need to be produced which will inform future activity and influence strategy. The postholder will work with senior management on putting strategies together to help meet agreed targets.

There will be processes put in place by the postholder to ensure that baseline and benchmarking data is collected and that this data will demonstrate clearly the impact of work being done in the schools.

Using a combination of qualitative and quantitative data sets, reports that are aimed at a wide variety of audiences, including senior and executive BCU staff and school partners, will be developed alongside the recommendations for the programme.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced data analyst who is keen to collect and interpret data as well as make recommendations based on this data.

The postholder should have strong report writing skills and be able to communicate with a wide variety of audiences.

Birmingham City University values the quality and diversity of our staff.

Our staff and student community is defined by our core values, which outline who we are as a University and how we work with each other.

Our core values are we create opportunity, we think differently, and we build community.

We believe that by working together, combining our many different backgrounds and life experiences, we will empower each other to reach our full potential.
